Middenvijver es el mayor espacio verde abierto en Amberes. Es una de las últimas partes de Linkeroever que se han elevado. A primera vista parece una enorme llanura de hierba monótona, pero quien se toma el tiempo para recorrer el área descubre más. El terreno no es perfectamente plano, sino que tiene un microrelieve pronunciado con elevaciones similares a dunas. Especialmente los bordes del área son secos y se han desarrollado en pastizales de cañas de dunas donde, entre otras cosas, se encuentra la estrella de mar de las dunas. En el centro hay una zona húmeda con praderas y un pequeño bosque de sauces y abedules.
