Vista desde la Molenstraat hacia los campos de Hagelend, en mayo. A la altura de la Molenstraat en Rillaar, había frecuentemente inundaciones de agua y barro en los jardines, viviendas y en la calle. En junio de 2016, durante fuertes tormentas, hubo un verdadero torrente de barro hasta el centro de Rillaar. Por eso se construyeron dos diques de mulch de madera. Los diques de mulch de madera son construcciones simples y baratas que son muy efectivas. Con postes de madera, malla de alambre y astillas de madera se construye una pared que retiene las partículas de barro y ralentiza el paso del agua.
