Detrás de los setos verdes del cementerio de Berchem, te espera un tesoro de descubrimientos. Las tumbas de notables y artistas locales son a veces impresionantes. Algunas familias construyeron grandes monumentos para dar a sus seres queridos un último lugar de descanso. Los aficionados al fútbol pueden buscar las lápidas de los Diablos Rojos Ludo Coeck y Albert De Hert. Este último, por cierto, también es el inventor del bocadillo martino.
Además de los típicos monumentos funerarios blancos de tres soldados británicos, también fueron enterrados aquí muchos soldados belgas caídos. Es conmovedor ver los 179 abetos en honor a las víctimas civiles de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.
