La gente quería un cementerio alrededor de la iglesia al lado del antiguo castillo 't Blauwhuis .
El barón Conrad van der Bruggen se opuso porque todavía vería el cementerio. Se ofreció a restaurar el cementerio y el gobierno erigió la primera cruz del cementerio en 1897 , ahora frente al cementerio actual.
Eventualmente , el Barón van der Bruggen entregó la tierra un poco más lejos a la Iglesia , y allí también hubo resistencia. Pero el pastor Canepeel dedicó el cementerio y los feligreses fueron enterrados allí. El primer entierro fue el de Maria Ludovica Deneweth, hermana de las Hijas de la Orden Mariana. En 1905 el cementerio y el camino que conduce al mismo fueron donados a la fábrica de la iglesia y en 1906 el barón Maurits van der Bruggen autorizó el uso de la ruta "De Varens" para el cortejo fúnebre.
