La oruga de Wim Delvoye se encuentra desde 2003 en el paseo marítimo de Middelkerke. Sin embargo, el ejemplar que se puede ver ahora no es el original. La obra original se trasladó ese mismo año a Ground Zero en Nueva York. La oruga actual está allí desde 2004 y en mayo de 2019 recibió una espectacular ampliación con el remolque correspondiente Flatbed Trailer. Juntos crean una nueva y imponente obra de arte de 21 metros de largo. Caterpillar + Flatbed Trailer pertenece a la serie de orugas de Delvoye de 2002. Con esta colección de notables máquinas de construcción, forja un punto de fusión atemporal entre el pasado y el presente. En esta obra, la oruga simboliza la época moderna y los patrones decorativos de una iglesia gótica simbolizan el mundo medieval.
