El Itterdal es un valle bastante estrecho que fue moldeado por el Itterbeek, que abre un camino a través de la Meseta de Kempen. La profunda hendidura del Itterbeek y el Wijshagerbeek no solo proporciona mayores diferencias de altura, sino también una gran variedad de paisajes: arroyos serpenteantes con pantanos húmedos, praderas con bordes arbóreos, bosques caducifolios de robles y abedules, así como bosques de coníferas plantados.
