La Inspección Federal Suiza de Seguridad Nuclear es la autoridad reguladora de Suiza para la seguridad nuclear y para la seguridad de las instalaciones nucleares; supervisa las plantas de energía nuclear en Beznau, Gösgen, Leibstadt y Mühleberg, los reactores de investigación en el Instituto Paul Scherrer, la Universidad de Basilea y el Instituto Federal Suizo de Tecnología, así como la instalación de almacenamiento intermedio central nacional suiza para desechos radiactivos. La sede de ENSI se encuentra en Brugg, en el cantón de Aargau.
Por su parte, ENSI es supervisada por la Junta de ENSI: este organismo es elegido por el Consejo Federal Suizo, ante el cual informa directamente.
