Unterlüß se encuentra en el noreste del estado de Baja Sajonia, en la Heide de Luneburgo, al este del parque natural Südheide y forma parte de la localidad del municipio de Südheide en el distrito de Celle.
Unterlüß se sitúa en medio del bosque de Lüß de 7500 ha. El bosque de Lüß, un bosque mixto con pinos, abetos, hayas, robles y abedules, es una de las mayores áreas forestales contiguas de Alemania y parte del área de protección paisajística de Südheide.
