El distrito de Hermsdorf se encuentra en la parte central norte de Reinickendorf y con alrededor de 6,1 km² de superficie es el sexto más grande de los once distritos del barrio.
Su límite al norte lo forma la frontera de la ciudad de Berlín y su extensión imaginaria hacia el oeste hasta el bosque de Tegel a lo largo de Burgfrauenstraße y Falkentaler Steig. Al noreste se encuentra el municipio brandeburgués de Glienicke/Nordbahn en el distrito de Oberhavel con el llamado "pico de pato". Al noroeste de Hermsdorf se encuentra el distrito de Frohnau.
