Poppenbüttel es un distrito de Hamburgo en el noroeste del distrito de Wandsbek. Al ser incorporado a Hamburgo, formaba parte de la antigua área administrativa de Alstertal.
Poppenbüttel se extiende a ambos lados del Oberalster y está claramente separado de los distritos vecinos por zonas verdes libres de edificación y áreas de protección del paisaje, que se basan en humedales y cursos de agua húmedos y parcialmente encharcados: al oeste por la llanura de Susebek y el área de Raakmoor detrás de ella frente a Langenhorn y Hummelsbüttel, al noroeste por los prados en la zanja de Poppenbüttel frente a Norderstedt en Schleswig-Holstein, al norte por Mellingbek y Kupferteich en frente de Lemsahl-Mellingstedt y al sur por el Alstertal frente a Wellingsbüttel. Hacia Sasel en el este, las áreas residenciales se superponen en algunos lugares, aunque aquí también están separadas en parte por el Alstertal.
