Möhringen es un distrito de la ciudad en el sur de Stuttgart. Limita con los distritos de la ciudad de Stuttgart de Vaihingen, Stuttgart-Süd, Degerloch y Plieningen, así como con la ciudad de Leinfelden-Echterdingen.
En documentos antiguos, entre 1100 y 1300, se utiliza por primera vez el nombre Moringen, una referencia a la colonización alémanica. Primero fueron los condes de Calw y los condes de la ciudad de Tübingen, y desde 1295 el hospital de Santa Catalina de Esslingen fue propietario de Möhringen, hasta que finalmente en 1803 pasó a ser parte de Wurtemberg. En el reino de Wurtemberg, fundado en 1806, la comunidad pertenecía inicialmente a la oficina superior de Esslingen, luego a partir de 1807 a la oficina superior de Stuttgart y antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, desde 1938, estuvo temporalmente bajo el distrito de Böblingen, hasta que el 1 de abril de 1942 se produjo la incorporación a Stuttgart. Desde entonces, Möhringen es un barrio de Stuttgart.
