El castillo de Pottenstein es uno de los castillos más antiguos de la Suiza Francona y alberga un museo del castillo. Se eleva sobre una roca por encima de la ciudad del mismo nombre, Pottenstein, en el distrito de Bayreuth en Alta Franconia, Baviera.
El castillo de espolón se encuentra en el parque natural Suiza Francona - Bosque de Veldenstein a aproximadamente 410 metros de altura en un espolón montañoso que se extiende hacia el oeste, entre los valles del Püttlach y el arroyo Weihersbach, justo al sureste de la ciudad de Pottenstein, a unos 22 kilómetros al suroeste de Bayreuth.
