Giengen es una antigua Ciudad Imperial Libre en el este de Baden-Württemberg, cerca de la frontera con Baviera en el sur de Alemania. La ciudad se encuentra en el distrito de Heidenheim, en el borde oriental de la Suabia, a unos 30 kilómetros al noreste de Ulm, a orillas del río Brenz.
Situada en la ruta Nuremberg-Ulm-Constance, una de las principales rutas alimentadoras del Camino de Santiago, Giengen es visitada cada año por un número creciente de peregrinos que caminan hacia Santiago de Compostela.
