La llanura de los humedales y los valles secundarios es un área de conservación natural en los municipios de Ahlerstedt, Bargstedt y Harsefeld en la comunidad de Samtgemeinde Harsefeld, así como en Bliedersdorf y Horneburg en la comunidad de Samtgemeinde Horneburg en el distrito de Stade.
El área de conservación natural, con la designación NSG LÜ 216, abarca aproximadamente 685 hectáreas. En su mayoría, también está designada como área de conservación de hábitats (FFH) "Auetal y valles secundarios", que se extiende por 753 hectáreas. En el valle de Steinbeck, al este de Harsefeld, limita con el área de conservación "Steinbeckforst". Por otro lado, está rodeada en gran parte por el área de protección paisajística "Auetal". El área ha estado bajo protección natural desde el 16 de junio de 1997. La autoridad de conservación regional responsable es el distrito de Stade.
