El río Dinkel es un afluente de 89 km de longitud del Vechte, que fluye desde Alemania hacia los Países Bajos y luego regresa a Alemania. No es idéntico al arroyo Dinkel en el distrito de Vechta, que da nombre a la ciudad de Dinklage. El Dinkel nace en Renania del Norte-Westfalia, en el oeste de Münsterland, en el distrito de Coesfeld, entre Ahaus y Coesfeld, en el municipio de Rosendahl. Allí se encuentra su fuente en el distrito de Holtwick, a 2 km al sur del centro del pueblo.
