Se presume que en el terreno de un antiguo castillo se erigió un monasterio. Se conoce una "torre y sede" fortificada, sobre la cual no se sabe nada acerca de su época de construcción.
Los únicos posibles constructores son los abades del monasterio, los condes de Sulzbach en el siglo XI o a principios del XII, los Staufer a finales del XII o principios del XIII. Después de 1504, los señores de Núremberg ordenaron la demolición. Las piedras de la torre se utilizaron para la construcción de las murallas del foso.
