La iglesia evangélico-luterana María Magdalena se encuentra en Fulkum, un lugar en el municipio de Holtgast, que forma parte de la municipalidad de Esens en Frisia Oriental. El edificio fue inaugurado en 1862.
Sobre el terraplén artificial de la iglesia se documentan tres construcciones anteriores de madera. Estas datan del siglo XII. En esa época, se levantó la mitad oriental del actual terraplén de la iglesia como una colina de aproximadamente 2,5 metros de altura, hecha de arena. Esta sirvió como plataforma para la primera iglesia, que luego fue destruida por un incendio. La construcción posterior también fue hecha de madera. Tenía un ancho de aproximadamente 4 metros y también fue consumida por las llamas. En el posterior siglo XII, se elevó el terraplén de la iglesia y se construyó una nueva iglesia de madera.
