La presa de Kinzigtal, construida entre 1976 y 1979, retiene el río Kinzig en Hesse entre Bad Soden-Salmünster y Steinau, cerca del lugar Ahl. Sirve para la protección contra inundaciones, el aumento del caudal en épocas de sequía y la generación de electricidad. La cuenca de la presa abarca 231 kilómetros cuadrados.
La presa tiene una altura de 14 m y una longitud de coronación de 550 m. Está construida como un dique de tierra con un sellado exterior de hormigón asfáltico. La profundidad del agua medida más alta es de 12 m, aunque en verano es solo de 7,50 m de promedio, y en invierno de 5,50 m de promedio. La superficie de agua embalsada alcanza un máximo de 125 ha con una longitud del embalse de 3,6 km. La presa de Kinzigtal tiene una capacidad de hasta 7,2 millones de metros cúbicos de agua.
