El Gelster es un afluente de 17,5 km de longitud, situado a la izquierda o suroeste del Werra, en la comarca de Werra-Meißner en el noreste de Hesse, Alemania.
El Gelster, que es uno de los principales afluentes del Werra en territorio hessiano y fluye completamente dentro del Parque Geo-Natural Frau-Holle-Land, nace en la ladera norte del Hirschberg, que se eleva al suroeste de Großalmerode como la montaña más alta del bosque de Kaufungen. La fuente se encuentra en una meseta pantanosa a una altitud de entre 470 y 480 m en el Pfaffenberg, una estribación norte del Hirschberg cerca de la carretera federal 451, a unos 455 m.
