El Museo de Pintura Rhenano en Bonn es un museo bajo la administración de una asociación privada sin ánimo de lucro, con el objetivo de preservar técnicas y herramientas antiguas y casi olvidadas del oficio de pintor para las futuras generaciones.
Los primeros planes para la creación de un museo de este tipo se remontan a 1979. Con la fundación de la "Asociación de Amigos del Museo de Pintura Rhenano Bonn e.V." en 1985, se pudieron iniciar planificaciones más concretas sobre la configuración y financiación. A través de la membresía en la asociación, especialmente los maestros pintores jubilados se han ocupado de la concepción, el desarrollo y el cuidado de la exposición. El museo fue inaugurado el 10 de noviembre de 1989.
