El planetario de Mannheim es el edificio sucesor de la construcción inaugurada en 1927, una de las primeras en el mundo.
La cúpula de proyección tiene una altura de 20 metros y ofrece espacio para 220 espectadores. Desde el año 2002, el planetario posee el moderno dispositivo de proyección "Universarium" de Carl Zeiss.
