La arenisca de Odenwald, también llamada arenisca multicolor de Odenwald, es la roca principal del Odenwald de arenisca multicolor en Hesse. Se trata de una arenisca de color rojo pálido a tenue del arenisca multicolor inferior.
La zona del este y sureste del Odenwald está compuesta principalmente de arenas, limos y arcillas, que se depositaron hace unos 250 millones de años en el arenisca multicolor inferior en un paisaje de ríos y lagos. En ese entonces, predominaba un clima seco con grandes sistemas fluviales que transportaban desechos rockeros, pero también se secaban repetidamente. De este modo, se formó una cuenca de sedimentación donde se depositó arena, que con el tiempo se consolidó y cementó en arenisca.
