El Hornisgrinde es una cadena montañosa ubicada en la parte norte de la Selva Negra. El punto culminante de esta cresta se encuentra a pocos kilómetros al sur (1164 metros de altitud), la parte norte de esta cresta montañosa tiene su cima a 1130 metros de altitud. La parte norte de esta cresta es fácilmente reconocible por la impresionante torre de televisión SWR. El acceso a la cima a veces puede estar cerrado por una barrera. ¡En caso de heladas, hay que tener en cuenta el hielo que cae de la torre de televisión!
El Hornisgrinde-Nord se escalar a menudo en combinación con el Unterstmatt o desde Sasbachwalden. En ambos casos, luego pasarás un puente de cerca de 960 metros de desnivel desde el valle del Rin.
