El Rakotzsee es un lago artificial creado entre 1842 y 1875 en el Parque de Azaleas y Rododendros de Kromlau, y se encuentra en el barrio de Kromlau del municipio de Gablenz en el distrito de Görlitz. Tiene aproximadamente 300 m de longitud y entre 35 y 50 m de ancho. En el centro, el lago está atravesado por el puente Rakotz de 35 m de largo. También en el centro del lago hay un grupo de columnas de basalto, que se llama "Órgano". El conjunto se considera ejemplar de la arquitectura de jardines del Romanticismo.
Como el lago no tiene un afluente natural, su nivel de agua se mantiene mediante una bomba. Se están considerando ideas para alimentarlo a partir de un curso de agua natural.
