El sendero educativo atraviesa la parte baja sajona del Drömling, la mayor zona húmeda de la región de importancia internacional. Desde el siglo XVIII, el Drömling ha sido drenado y cultivado varias veces debido a las intervenciones humanas. Los hábitats de animales y plantas han sido alterados y, de hecho, amenazados en su existencia. En siete estaciones, el sendero educativo muestra la transformación de un paisaje natural a un paisaje cultural.
