La ruta comienza en uno de los símbolos de Castrop-Rauxel: la torre Erinturm. La estructura de extracción sobre el pozo 7 de la antigua mina Erin representa como ningún otro lugar la importancia de la minería en la creación de la ciudad de Castrop-Rauxel.
El primer objetivo de la etapa está estrechamente relacionado con el punto de partida: la torre Hammerkopf se eleva directamente sobre el pozo 3 de la antigua mina Erin.
