Figueras[2][1][3] es un municipio y ciudad española del norte de la provincia de Gerona, en Cataluña. Capital de la comarca del Alto Ampurdán, cuenta con una población de 47 043 habitantes . Figueras se halla ubicada en el extremo noreste de Cataluña. Es la ciudad más importante de las cercanas a la frontera con Francia y articula un importante nudo de comunicaciones que la convierten en puerta de entrada y punto de parada obligada de viajeros y turistas que entran y salen de España. Se sitúa a 42 kilómetros de la capital provincial.
