Tresviso es un municipio y localidad situada en el extremo occidental de la comunidad autónoma de Cantabria , en la comarca de Liébana.[1] Con sus 907 metros de altitud, es la localidad cántabra situada a mayor elevación de toda la comunidad autónoma.Su nombre oficial Tresviso, proviene de la derivación cántabra tres-visu del latín trans visum que vendría a significar "tras el collado desde el cual se empieza a ver un lugar" o bien del también latín trans abyssum, "tras el abismo".[2]
