La primera mención escrita sobre Lezo data según el historiador Pablo Gorosábel del privilegio de términos de la fundación de la villa de Fuenterrabía en 1203. Dicho documento menciona los límites de la villa de Fuenterrabía, finalizando dicha descripción con la siguiente frase.
