La batalla de Sagunto se libró durante la guerra de la Independencia Española enfrentando a los ejércitos español y francés. Supuso una victoria decisiva para los franceses que conllevó un gran efecto estratégico de cara a la posterior conquista de Valencia. El enfrentamiento tuvo lugar el 25 de octubre de 1811 entre los términos de Murviedro y Puzol, 25 km al norte de la ciudad de Valencia. También es conocida como batalla de Puzol[1] o de los Arenales de Puzol.[2] El mariscal Louis Gabriel Suchet la bautizó como la batalla «de Sagunto», siendo este nombre el que figura grabado en los muros exteriores del Arco de Triunfo de París y con el que ha pasado a la historia.
