Sare es una localidad y comuna francesa situada en el departamento de Pirineos Atlánticos, en la región de Nueva Aquitania, cerca del mar Cantábrico . Pertenece al territorio histórico vascofrancés de Labort.La comuna, titular de un premio de la asociación Les plus beaux villages de France, alberga elementos del patrimonio natural de gran interés en la región como las cuevas de Sare:[3] descubiertas por el padre naturalista José Miguel de Barandiarán, exiliado allí en 1941, y el acceso al monte del Larrún. Limita al noreste con Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle , al noroeste con Ascain y Urrugne y al sur con la frontera española de la Comunidad Foral de Navarra, Zugarramurdi.
