El escritor Honoré de Balzac nació en Tours el 20 de mayo de 1799. Inmediatamente después de su nacimiento, Honoré fue enviado a una nodriza; al año siguiente se unió a él su hermana Laure y pasaron cuatro años alejados de casa. Enviar bebés a nodrizas todavía era común entre las clases medias y altas en ese momento.
