El Passage du Gois es popular en el Tour de Francia. Fue el inicio del Tour de Francia en 2011. En 1999, el Passage du Gois también formó parte del Tour de Francia. Debido a la carretera resbaladiza, ocurrió un accidente que creó una diferencia de tiempo de seis minutos entre el grupo y aquellos que habían caído. Esto hizo que algunos favoritos perdieran toda esperanza de ganar el Tour. Alex Zülle fue uno de ellos. Terminó segundo a siete minutos detrás de Lance Armstrong. También en 2005 el Tour pasó por aquí.
