El castillo de Lacapelle-Marival, fue construido a finales del siglo XIII por Géraud de Cardaillac, hijo menor de una familia poderosa del Alto Quercy, en las ricas tierras de una de las muchas parrroquias del feudo de Cardaillac.
El torreón más tardío, de poderosas dimensiones, visiblemente fue reformado completamente en el siglo XV para aumentar a la vez la comodidad y el símbolo feudal (camino de ronda por las almenas, torres en las esquinas). La vivienda, mucho más espaciosa que la torre original fue iniciada a mediados del siglo XVI, pero se terminó en el siglo XVII: los marqueses de Cardaillac decoraron entonces con cuadros alegóricos las boiseries de diferentes habitaciones.
