Edimburgo ɹə/ en inglés y escocés: Edinburgh; en gaélico escocés: Dùn Èideann) es la capital y un concejo de Escocia .[2][3] Es la segunda ciudad más grande de Escocia tras Glasgow.
Ubicada en la costa este de Escocia, a orillas del fiordo del río Forth y en la autoridad unitaria local de la Ciudad de Edimburgo, es la capital de Escocia desde 1437 y sede del gobierno escocés. Fue uno de los centros más importantes de educación y cultura durante la Ilustración gracias a la Universidad de Edimburgo. Sus distritos The Old Town y The New Town fueron designados Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la Unesco en 1995.[4] Según el censo de 2011 tiene un población total de 459 366 habitantes.[1]
