Esfacteria o Esfagia , nombre por el que también se la conocía en la Antigüedad clásica,[1] es una pequeña, estrecha y alargada isla del mar Jónico, delante de la bahía de Pilos, cerca de la costa de Mesenia, frente al puerto de Pilos. Célebre por el sitio que allí sostuvieron 420 espartanos contra los atenienses mandados por Cleón, a quienes tuvieron que rendirse en 425 a. C. Hoy llamada Sfagia o Prodona.
