El centro de Lefkada tiene un laberinto de calles. En el pasado, eso era útil para sobrevivir a los ataques de piratas. Aunque la calle principal te da una referencia fácil, rápidamente perderás la orientación cuando entres en las pequeñas calles laterales. Esas calles estrechas también ofrecen protección contra el fuerte sol en verano y los vientos feroces en invierno. Aunque estas son todas ventajas que muchos arquitectos de ciudades y guías turísticas explican sobre los antiguos pueblos pequeños griegos, sigue siendo un misterio para mí si hay un diseño arquitectónicamente consciente detrás de la construcción. ¿O simplemente creció de manera orgánica así? ¿O es evolutivo de manera selectiva: las ciudades que no se ensamblaron rápidamente se volvieron inhabitables y desaparecieron?
Incluso tienen un nombre específico para esas pequeñas calles: 'kantounia'.
