El Vermenagna es un afluente del río Gesso, en la cuenca del río Po. Su fuente es un pequeño lago a más de 2000 m cerca de la Rocca dell'Abisso, no lejos del Colle di Tenda; después de Limonetto, el flujo cruza los municipios de Limone Piemonte y Vernante, donde recibe por la margen izquierda su principal afluente, el río di Valle Grande, que recoge las aguas del valle de Palanfrè. Su curso continúa alcanzando Robilante y Roccavione; en la frontera entre este último municipio y Borgo San Dalmazzo, el Vermenagna desemboca en el Gesso, a 610 de elevación. El curso del Vermenagna separa los Alpes Marítimos de los Alpes Ligures.
