El teatro de Marcelo existe desde hace más de 2.000 años. Originalmente tenía 32 metros de altura, hoy en día mide 20. Podían acomodarse aproximadamente 20.000 espectadores. La construcción y la apariencia también inspiraron a los diseñadores del posterior Coliseo. En la Edad Media, la ruina fue transformada primero en una fortaleza. A partir del siglo XVI se erigieron edificaciones más lujosas. Solo en los años 20 del siglo pasado se retiraron las pequeñas tiendas de los arcos para dar lugar a la restauración del exterior. Hace 10 años, el conjunto fue vendido a través de una agencia inmobiliaria especializada por 32 millones de euros...
Observa en el exterior del edificio un saliente con 3 fasces, el símbolo romano del poder judicial, y más tarde adoptado por el partido fascista de Mussolini (ver también W5-10).
