Los Abruzos, o el Abruzo,[1][2] [n. 1] es una de las veinte regiones que conforman la República Italiana. La ciudad más poblada es Pescara, seguida por L'Aquila y Téramo . Está ubicada en Italia meridional, limitando al norte con Marcas, al este con el mar Adriático, al sur con Molise y al oeste con Lacio. Es una región montañosa en su parte occidental con el macizo del Gran Sasso d'Italia.[3] Aunque geográficamente se encuentre en la Italia central, es culturalmente y económicamente considerado como parte del sur de Italia, siendo los Abruzos el territorio más septentrionales del antiguo reino de las Dos Sicilias.[4]
