La prisión de Schrassig es el único centro penitenciario cerrado de Luxemburgo. Se encuentra cerca de las localidades de Schrassig, Sandweiler y Oetringen en el territorio del municipio de Schüttringen. La prisión fue inaugurada en 1984 tras seis años de construcción. Así, reemplazó a la prisión en el barrio Grund de la ciudad de Luxemburgo. Ya estaba sobrepoblada tras tres años. En la década de 1990, la institución fue ampliada de manera integral, pero seguía estando sobrepoblada: en marzo de 2007, la prisión estaba diseñada para una capacidad de 600 reclusos y contaba con 680 prisioneros, de los cuales 37 eran mujeres.
