Klazienaveen es un lugar en el municipio de Emmen, en la provincia de Drenthe. El 1 de enero de 2021, Klazienaveen tenía 11,980 habitantes. La aldea canalera se encuentra a orillas del Verlengde Hoogeveense Vaart, localmente conocido como el Canal Van Echten. A finales de los años setenta, el canal en el centro fue parcialmente tapado, lo que hizo que el tráfico de barcos en tránsito ya no fuera posible y se liberara más espacio para el tráfico por carretera y las tiendas. En 2005 se inició la construcción de un complejo de tiendas y apartamentos sobre uno de los canales tapados. Este complejo, denominado "Schip I", se completó en 2007. En 2012 se realizó un segundo complejo "Schip II".
