La Plaata de Bergse es uno de los recientes barrios de nueva construcción que el municipio de Bergen op Zoom ha construido. El barrio se encuentra en el suroeste del municipio y está delimitado por el Markiezaatsweg, la Laan van Reimerswaal y por el Binnenschelde y el Zoommeer.
La Plaata debe su nombre a una antigua placa de arena que existía anteriormente cuando Bergen op Zoom todavía estaba en la Oosterschelde y, por lo tanto, conocía las mareas. En el área, anteriormente se encontraban varios pueblos que desaparecieron debido a la inundación de Sint-Felix en 1530 y después. Los nombres de los pueblos sumergidos se pueden encontrar en varios nombres de calles en la Plaata de Bergse.
