Después de un devastador tornado en 1577, la iglesia con torre sufrió graves daños. Pasó mucho tiempo antes de que la iglesia fuera restaurada. Solo 60 años después, en 1637, se pudo volver a utilizar la iglesia. La iglesia de 1637 fue ampliada en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX y en 1909. El número de asientos alcanzó así las 1400. Cada domingo, los servicios en esta iglesia reformada holandesa son muy concurridos.
