El Winschoterdiep, anteriormente llamado Stadsdiep, Heerendiep, Trekdiep o Schuitendiep, es el canal que va de Groningen, desde la conexión con el Eemskanaal, hacia Winschoten, donde se bifurca en el Rensel, el último tramo hacia Winschoten, y la conexión con el Pekel A. El Winschoterdiep forma la continuación del Schuitendiep que fue excavado alrededor de 1400 desde Groningen hacia Foxhol. El nombre Winschoterdiep no se popularizó hasta alrededor de 1840.
