la zona alargada se encuentra a lo largo del Nieuwe Maas al pie del puente Erasmus y desde el cambio de siglo se caracteriza por edificios altos y comodidades modernas. Entre otros, el Teatro Luxor y Holland America Line están ubicados en el Wilhelminapier.
En septiembre de 2014, el Oasis of the Seas, el crucero más grande del mundo, atracó en la terminal de cruceros. Para poder recibir barcos de este tamaño, la terminal recibió un nuevo muelle. También el resto del Wilhelminapier se está modernizando para que en el futuro puedan atracar más cruceros.[2]
