La iglesia de Jacob de Roderwolde fue construida en 1831 como reemplazo de una iglesia que se encontraba en la Pastorielaan, en el lugar del cementerio que todavía existe. La iglesia se menciona por primera vez en 1139. Originalmente, el núcleo de la construcción de Roderwolde estaba en esta área, en la extensión de las edificaciones de Sandebuur. Con el tiempo, debido al asentamiento del suelo y problemas con el nivel freático, se tuvo que trasladar la construcción hacia el sur.
