De Houw es un barrio en el municipio de Het Hogeland en la provincia de Groninga. Se encuentra a medio camino entre Ulrum y Leens, al sur de la N361. De Houw está situada sobre un antiguo dique de marisma que se formó en la alta Edad Media. Desde el siglo IX se levantaron montículos sobre el dique de marisma. Dos de ellos se encuentran cerca de De Houw; el habitado Grote Houw en el lado norte y noreste de la carretera y el ahora deshabitado Kleine Houw en el lado suroeste de la carretera. En las proximidades encontramos los Houwsterwierden y la granja Westerhouw. En De Houw se colocó en 1839 un antiguo poste de vergüenza como mojón entre ambos municipios.
