Lemmer se encuentra en el IJsselmeer y los lagos frisones, y es uno de los lugares de deportes acuáticos más conocidos de Frisia. En los meses de verano, Lemmer es un concurrido balneario y atrae no solo a turistas, sino también a muchas personas de localidades vecinas como Emmeloord, Urk y Joure que buscan las numerosas terrazas.
