Este antiguo monasterio fue ocupado en 1903 por monjas trapenses francesas. Ellas lo llamaron Notre Dame du Perpetual Secours (Nuestra Señora de la asistencia perpetua). En 1912, las hermanas regresaron a Francia. Durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, vivían allí novicios de los Padres de los Sagrados Corazones, que habían huido de Bélgica. Posteriormente, el edificio pasó a manos del fabricante Van den Bergh, quien le dio el nombre de De Rendierhoeve. Quizás porque en las etiquetas del material publicitario para sus mantas AaBe aparecían renos.
